Info and requirements:
In order to open a Bed&Breakfast it is necessary to reside in the same building where this kind of accommodation is offered.
The B&B has to offer maximum 3 rooms for a total of 6 beds. Because of the occasional character of the activity an interruption of at least 60 days per year (even not continuous) is foreseen. Being an “occasional” business the VAT number is not required in Umbria, therefore no fiscal document won’t have to be issued at the payment.

The B&Bs, as specified in the law must have some compulsory requirements:
14 sq m the double room, 8 sq m the single room, compliance to security regulations of electrical, gas and heating systems, in respect of hygienic and building regulations.
In order to open a Bed&Breakfast it is sufficient to go to local municipality offices and fill in a DIA Form (Denuncia di Inizio Attività), communicating also the prices which have to show the municipality seal and must be affixed in each room reserved for guests.
